Healing From the Root—Bridging Tradition and Modern Science

Dr. Jing Liu holds two doctorates, a Ph.D. in Natural Health Science (U.S.) and a Ph.D. in Traditional Chinese Medicine (China) and was educated in both Western medicine and Chinese medicine in China. Over 30+ years of clinical practice in the United States, Dr. Liu has developed protocols that align acupuncture treatments with menstrual cycles and has conducted research into brain‑centered approaches for neurodevelopmental conditions. She is a recognized international speaker and elected to serves as Vice Chairman of Acupuncture safety for the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies. Early in her career, she received recognition from senior officials in China for her contributions to the field.

Lineage & Innovation

A long-time mentee and translator for Academician Prof. Shi Xuemin, Dr. Liu has trained with him for more than 20 years. From him she mastered Xing Nao Kai Qiao (XNKQ) and true to the spirit of lineage further developed and extended this brain-centered approach beyond stroke. Beginning in the early 2000s, Dr. Liu undertook extensive clinical work and research applying XNKQ to ADHD, Tourette’s, stress/anxiety, depression, sleep disorders, and neuro-endocrine regulation related to fertility (HPG-axis).

Evidence & Public Impact

In Scottsdale, Dr. Liu collaborated with a local special-education school and the wider community, treating several hundred pediatric cases for almost 10 years. Her ADHD clinical research encompassing 200+ children was published in 2011. She has been a frequent speaker with the Arizona ADHD Association, sharing clinical insights with families and practitioners.

Dr. Liu began treating Muhammad Ali in 2009 (publicly acknowledged). The well-documented case of Miss Arizona (2013) achieving remission from ADHD/Tourette’s was featured on PBS and other media, a milestone that was not accidental but the culmination of her long-standing brain-centered program.

Notable Collaboration with Michael Phelps

For nearly a decade, Dr. Liu also supported Olympic gold medalist Michael Phelps in managing depression and recovery. Their collaboration extended beyond clinical care: together, they co-developed a battery-powered cupping device, improving on traditional cupping tools that athletes often found unsatisfactory. This innovative project was designed to help professional athletes and fitness enthusiasts benefit from cupping therapy more conveniently.
